Paul McCartney certainly has nothing to prove at this point but he still looks and sounds quite spry at age 71. He has certainly worked hard at promoting it as he gave impromptu concerts in Times Square and at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria.

In a world where terrorists attack the innocent in the name of either religion or a political cause, there is something perversely refreshing about the Somali pirates who have become infamous for taking over ships and kidnapping crewmembers. It is just business to them, and a profitable one at that, according to the new film CAPTAIN PHILLIPS. While they may not having anything personally against their victims they can be as bloodthirsty as the most hateful member of Al Qaeda if they don’t get the ransom that they are demanding.
PARKLAND
The events of September 11, 2001 will in all likelihood be the cataclysmic historic event that will stay etched in one’s mind to anyone who is 18 and over. The whole world irreversibly changed for the worse that September morning. Ask anyone who is now close to 60 years old (or older of course) and they will tell you that they had that same feeling on the afternoon of November 22, 1963 when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.
A PREVIEW OF THE FALL 2013 TV SEASON
As a kid, Fall meant the end of Summer vacation and a return to the school grind. The good news was that it meant the end of the Summer tv rerun doldrums and the eager anticipation of checking out the new fall tv lineup. As an adult, I still look forward to the debut of new shows.

Charleston was a battleground during both the American Revolution and the Civil War. 1779’s Battle of Charleston was one of the last British victories over the American colonists. South Carolina became the first state to secede from the Union when state officials, unhappy with the election of President Abraham Lincoln, met in Charleston on December 20, 1860 and voted to cede.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: SAVANNAH, GA
Savannah was founded in 1733 by British general James Oglethorpe who would go onto form the colony of Georgia. Civic officials are fond of saying that Savannah was the first planned American city. In the historic district, there is a park plaza every two blocks, and there seems to be a house of worship alongside spectacular mansions.
THE HEAT
One of the most successful film genres of the last thirty years has been the buddy action comedy. Among the familiar titles are 48 HOURS, RUNNING SCARED, MEN IN BLACK, BAD BOYS, TANGO & CASH, STARSKY & HUTCH, RUSH HOUR and 21 JUMP STREET. The common thread in all of the aforementioned movies is that the lead principals are guys. Director Paul Feig and screenwriter Katie Dippold clearly revere the action comedy and decide to give it a long overdue twist by having a cop buddy flick where the two leads are women.
