Not an actual sequel, but based along the same storyline as CENTURION. Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum) is the son of the fallen General of the doomed 9th Legion. He seeks to bring back his family’s honor by recovering Rome’s 9th Legion standard (the Gold Eagle) that has been missing since their disappearance 20 years earlier.
Marcus and Esca (Jamie Bell), a Briton slave whose life he saved, venture into the dangerous Northern Lands of Britain, which is inhabited by various barbarous warrior groups. Even though the slave has pledged his life to serve Marcus, he is also torn between his loyalty to his countrymen. Will he assist Marcus on his quest, knowing that he will be marked a traitor by his people?
There are some great action sequences plus the now familiar “evade the hunters” chase. The storyline is lively and at times thought provoking but somewhat stark when it comes to secondary character development. Be prepared for a sudden lull in the action during the last third of the movie.
